The Universe connects..

What if I were to tell you that there is a place of total peace and happiness? A place where you feel absolutely at ease, in balance with the world and a place of unconditional acceptance? A place (or should I really be calling it a “state of being”) where you just know that everything will work out no matter how dire the current situation looks. A place where you can sit back and just take it all in and be more of an observer and not be emotionally involved in your own world, and you know that no matter which way your life takes turns, you are going to be allright and there is no need for reason to worry?

Its blissful to say the least, maybe it is all about acceptance, as well as realizing that the place you are in is because you have chosen it (actively or passively) and you are still the one and only one that can make the decision of where your life turns. Maybe it is just that realization that you do have control of your life, and you are the only driving factor, and it is every single decision every day that you make that controls the direction you are going. Most of us are probably not aware of this, but every single decision in every single moment determines where you are going in your life.

Regardless of outside influences, you are in the drivers seat. There is always a choice. We get so caught up in our little lifes and we make elephants out of flees, where in the end it doesn’t really matter. How often do you take the time to just sit down and think for an hour? Let your thoughts run free and ask yourself questions of why or what are your true motivation factors are? I bet if you were to sit down and think about it you would realize that we do many things for totally assanine reasons.

Make a point to enjoy your every day and appreciate what you have and what you experience and accept it as a gift rather than a bother. You were born with nothing and you will leave this earth with nothing, everything in between, your stuff, your new car, new house, new shoes, whatever, it’s just a distraction from truly being able to appreciate and enjoy your life. Your new TV, boat, gizmo, its just a temporary fix to keep you from reality. Nothing wrong with new nice stuff, just make sure your life doesnt get too hung up on it.

Appreciate every day as a gift, love your friends, and most of all take the time to sit and do nothing, nothing at all.

The Yoga Bubble continues…

August 26, 2010 Leave a comment

It’s hard to explain what a great feeling it is to be teaching this terrific yoga. The best part is that the students really make the class and the teacher is just there to facilitate. Most of you practicing might think differently but there is something to be said about the energy put out in the room by students and shared with each other.

Moving along in the yoga bubble, Susannah, another BYTT graduate visited from St. Augustine, FL. It’s nice to reconnect with teachers from the same training.

This month’s teaching schedule will be short teaching down in Melbourne and Merritt Island, FL. I am going to Germany in the middle of September to teach at the Frankfurt studio. I am extremly excited about that and look forward to being there. Still not sure if I’ll learn the dialogue in German, but probably will do so naturally.

September schedule:

September 01 9:00 a.m. Wednesday Melbourne
September 01 6:15 a.m. Wednesday Melbourne
September 02 9:30 a.m. Thursday Merritt Island
September 03 4:30 p.m. Friday Melbourne
September 03 6:15 p.m. Friday Melbourne

Craig Villani’s Workshop

August 25, 2010 Leave a comment

Shortly after teacher training, what should you do? Take a Bikram Yoga workshop of course 🙂 So I attended a two day workshop lead by Craig Villani, hosted by South Florida Bikram Yoga (thank you Tanya Mahanger and Stacey Palmer)

Pictured below are Suzanne Elliott (Owner Bikram Yoga Merritt Island) Craig Villani and I. If you have a chance to take Craigs workshop do it, it is educational and fun. You don’t have to be a teacher to take his workshop, so I recommend it especially if you are a Bikram Yoga student as Craig discusses and explains the postures individually that we as teachers are not able to during a regular BY class. (But you can always come up after class and ask!)

It was nice to run into Ken and Jacqueline, also BYTT graduates from this Spring. Ken is originally from Las Vegas and sort of touring the country while Jaqueline is from the South Florida studio that hosted this event.

Craig also offers week long yoga retreats in the South of France, to find out more visit http://www.lux-yoga.com/.

Where are the other 358 Yogis?

End of week Three

May 8, 2010 1 comment

Another lucky week, the outside temp remained in the mid-80’s and the tent stayed what I now consider a cool 110 to 112 degrees average. Amazing how your body can adjust. I can feel my hip, knee and ankle bones grinding, popping and changing. It’s a good feeling and it seems I am finally slowly eventually getting my hips opened up. Hopefully it gets all done before I leave here.
All the sudden I no longer crave many of the foods I usually like to eat, no desire for chocolate, nuts or other usual staples. I am eating sundried tomatoes, dried seaweed, veggie sushi and more seaweed. Then again I craved the ultimate lunch the other day. (see pic)
This week we lectured on the skeletel and articular systems and the central nervous system. Did you know that the longest axon of a neuron is approximately 15′ in length? As I am writing this my precentral gyrus causes preganglionic neurons to arise and send axons to a ganglion where it synapses with a dendrite of a postganglionic neuron whose axon tells the muscles of my pronator quadratus to perform a medial rotation of the radius and flex the digitorum profundus in my left hand, in order to tap this blog entry in on the iPhone. Monday we’ll have our first anatomy test, wish me luck!
Things I learned last week:
-make sure to tightly close the lid on the blender before operating the blender
-don’t use lotion on your hands or feet before yoga class or bodyparts may slip at the worst time possible during postures
